Greetings to all DFW-based Flight Crews!
DFW Pilots,
March was a rather slow month for us at DFW. I'm sure with spring on our doorstep it's getting a little more difficult for folks to find the time to fly, but almost everyone got their required flights in, so good work! Last month, in 303 flights, DFW flew for 772 hours - well short of our 1000 hour goal. I will renew that challenge for April - let's get out there and show some DFW and AvA pride by flooding the skies with AAL1XX callsigns!
A good start for that would be to fly in the FNO/AvA event at KSTL tomorrow (April 2)! The plan is to depart DFW at 2330z and head for the Gateway City. There should be a good amount of traffic, so let's get out there and show our colors!
This month's featured destination is Eagle County/Vail, CO (KEGE). This is a nice tiny field with a fun approach through the mountains. I suggest everyone checks it out!
Also, a bit of sad news. Jim Zimmer has decided to resign his post as DFW Assistant HM. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Jim for all of his service to the DFW hub these past couple of years. You've been a rock, and I'll certainly miss working with you. With that said, if you think you can step up and fill the AHM spot, please send an email to dfwhm@joinava.org. You should include how long you've been with AvA, and why you think I should choose you for AHM. Keep in mind, this offer will be extended to every AvA pilot, but I'd like to see someone from the hub get it.
Remember, if you will be unable to make your required flights this month, please submit a Leave of Absence.
That's all for now. I'll see y'all in the skies!
